Claire’s Impact as a Skills Coach and Wellbeing Champion Programme

At BeReady, our commitment to creating a holistic learning experience is captured in our Wellbeing Champion Programme. Launched with the vision of creating an environment where learners not only thrive academically but also prioritise their mental and emotional health.

In today’s fast-paced world, the importance of wellbeing cannot be overstated. Recognising this, we introduced the first-ever Wellbeing Champion Programme to ensure that our learners not only excel in their studies but also navigate the challenges of life with resilience and balance.

The Invaluable Role of our Skills Coaches:

Central to the success of our programmes are our skills coaches, among them the exceptional Claire. Claire brings a unique perspective to her role, having spent 15 years teaching an age range from 2 to 92 years. Her journey, from an art club leader and teaching assistant to a dedicated advocate for student wellbeing, reflects her unwavering commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment in our Wellbeing Champion Programme.

Claire’s journey in education culminated in her role supporting children and young people at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). Her mission was to identify barriers hindering their path to successful employment or training and collaboratively create action plans for a brighter future.

A crucial component of the learner’s journey is off-the-job learning, a cornerstone in building a well-rounded skill set. This aspect of the learning journey extends beyond the workplace, providing learners with a broader skill foundation. Claire and our team of skilled coaches play a pivotal role in guiding the learner through this journey. They comprehend the complexities of balancing personal and professional lives, making off-the-job learning a simple and relevant process. The skills coach helps learners identify their activities, shares helpful tips and examples of off-the-job activities, and personalises the experience to meet each learner’s needs, ensuring a seamless and tailored educational experience.

Snippets of Claire’s Approach:

Claire’s approach to education is grounded in the belief that wellbeing is the cornerstone of effective learning. She emphasises the need for students to feel safe, secure, and well-fed, recognising that learning cannot thrive in an environment where wellbeing is compromised. Her experience working with disengaged individuals has equipped her with the skills to build working relationships and empower learners to take positive steps toward their goals.

Claire shares:

“It is this interaction with learners that I love the most about being part of BeReady and delivering the Wellbeing Champion Apprenticeship. All the learners on my caseload lead extremely busy personal and professional lives. It is my job to help them navigate their learning journey and to individualise their experience.”

Addressing the Wellbeing Challenge:

Recent statistics highlight the pressing need for wellbeing initiatives in educational settings. Reports on wellbeing in schools and instances of bullying underscore the challenges students face daily. Our Wellbeing Champion Programme addresses these issues head-on, providing a supportive framework for learners to thrive personally and academically.

In conclusion, we commend Claire as our Wellbeing Champion Star of the Week, acknowledging her dedication to student welfare. We extend our applause to all our skills coaches who work tirelessly to make our programmes a source of support for our learners.

At BeReady, we understand that a successful learning journey includes not only academic achievement but also the development of a resilient and balanced individual. Our Wellbeing Champion Programme stands as a testament to our commitment to nurturing the overall wellbeing of our learners, ensuring they are prepared not just for EPA but for life beyond the course helping themselves and others.
