Well-being Coaching Apprenticeship – BeReady – Be Future Ready


With our Well-being Coaching Apprenticeship qualification, we offer education professionals the opportunity to learn up-to-date, practical coaching skills, backed up by relevant research, in order to help support and coach colleagues and students. Underpinned by an elective well-being module, the programme develops the necessary coaching skills to promote well-being within your school.

Predominantly online, the Well-being Coaching Apprenticeship is particularly useful for those who want to hone their skills to actively listen, provide feedback and use coaching to support and signpost.

Coaches are dual professionals who use their up-to-date professional knowledge and skills to support colleagues and students across the education and training sector, or indeed in any employer setting, and at any level. The programme will deliver value to the school, its staff and its pupils. It can also be seen as a reward for those colleagues being asked to undertake additional responsibilities, as learners undertaking the course will gain new professional skills.

Who is this course for?

This Apprenticeship Levy-funded course is especially suited to individuals tasked with well-being support for colleagues and students across the school and want to benefit from education-focused, practical training and a recognised qualification in this area.

It also allows coaches already within schools to gain a recognised qualification in coaching, mentoring and assessment.

Entry requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English, Grade C or above or 4/5. However, there are opportunities to work with colleagues who have not gained these grades but are committed to gaining these confirmations prior to the completion of the course
  • Level 1 Safeguarding
  • ICT Level 2 (equivalent to grade C or above or 4/5)
  • The applicant must have the opportunity to be engaged within a coaching relationship and display the behavioural attributes required of a coach, such as trust and integrity

Course content


The curriculum of this 15-month course focuses on the development of the professional knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be a coach. These include:

  • Planning, coaching and assessment
  • Delivering coaching support
  • Assessing learners
  • Supporting peer review and quality assurance
  • Maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge

  • Effective coaching practice
  • Effective vocational assessment
  • Ways to support quality improvement


Content includes:

  • Inspire, motivate and support learners’ aspirations through their passion for the sector
  • Operate at all times to ethical and legal standards and within professional boundaries
  • Model and encourage mutual respect, displaying a deep understanding of equality and diversity, with and between learners, colleagues and appropriate agencies
  • Be resilient and adaptable when dealing with challenge and change, maintaining focus and self-control
  • Value the importance of Maths, English and ICT skills in the learners’ future economic and social well-being
  • Evaluate and improve their own professional practice in relation to the Professional Standards for the Teachers and Educators in the Education and Training Sector

Project Management Skills

Level 5. 20 Credits.
To enable the development of skills necessary to lead a team to achieve set objectives within resource and time constraints while mitigating potential risks.

Ethical Leadership in the Workplace

Level 6. 20 Credits.
Developing an appreciation of ethics in an organisational context and how ethical leaders instil ethical principles throughout organisations in ways which promote responsible behaviour to stakeholders while taking into account that stakeholders may hold different, culturally-informed, sets of ethical values.
